There is one more week left in the 2022 Virginia General Assembly Session and things are rolling for the Virginia REALTORS®. Here are the highlights from the week, including the passage of our REALTOR® health insurance legislation:

On the Governor’s Desk

The REALTOR® health insurance legislation, House Bill 768 and Senate Bill 335, both passed the General Assembly this week and are now headed to Governor Youngkin for his consideration. The bills passed the House on 97-2 votes, while both received unanimous 40-0 votes in the Senate.

Be on the lookout for Virginia REALTORS® updates as soon as that happens.  If signed by the Governor, the law will be effective on July 1st, which will allow us to move forward in discussions with insurance providers. There are still several steps in the process before this can become reality, and we’ll keep everyone updated as things move forward.

The Rest of the Best

Our health insurance bills aren’t the only pieces of Virginia REALTORS® legislation headed to the Governor’s desk this week. Check out the status of the rest of our legislative agenda on the Virginia REALTORS® website.

Welcome to My House

It was great to spend Wednesday with members from the the Southside Virginia Association of REALTORS® as they visited legislators at the capitol for their lobby day. As important as it is to advocate for or against a policy, it is equally important to show our gratitude to legislators who support our initiatives. SVAR helped spread that message of appreciation to delegates and senators during the visit.

One More Week to Go
