Terrie Suit

Virginia REALTORS® CEO, Terrie Suit

On September 1, 2020, Virginia Business Magazine published the first edition of the Virginia 500 Power List. This special issue was created to recognize Virginia’s most influential business leaders. The exclusive list was created through an exhaustive year-long research project.

Virginia REALTORS® is thrilled to announce that our own CEO, Terrie Suit, has been selected for the inaugural edition of the Virginia 500. She was selected based on her tireless efforts to better both our association and our industry, as well as her reputation as an effective leader.

A former state delegate, Terrie has served as CEO of Virginia REALTORS® since 2013, representing the 35,000 members of the association. She began working as a REALTOR® in 1985 and later worked as a mortgage loan officer.

From 2000 to 2008, Terrie represented Chesapeake and Virginia Beach as a delegate. During that time, she served on the Virginia Housing Commission where she worked with Sen. Bill Mims (then Chair) to create the Virginia Fair Housing Office and Fair Housing Board.  She later Chaired the Virginia Housing Commission and sponsored numerous Commission Bills, shaping housing policy in Virginia.

After retiring from the House of Delegates, she served in the administration of Governor Robert F. McDonnell as Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security, the first person to hold the post.

Suit holds degrees from Tidewater Community College, Old Dominion University, and the University of Mary Washington, where she earned her MBA. She also has served on several committees at the National Association of REALTORS®.
