Why REALTORS® Are Thankful for RPAC and Advocacy
November 22, 2021
Government Relations is one of Virginia REALTORS®‘ top strategic goals. It’s why the association was formed more than 100 years ago. In this season of Thanksgiving, we asked REALTORS® why they are thankful for RPAC and Virginia REALTORS® advocacy. Here are a few responses we received.
Our Seat at the Table
“I’m thankful for RPAC because the PAC does the work of lobbying for our business, our clients, and our members, allowing me to focus on selling real estate every day. The money that I invest in RPAC helps our advocacy team fight to defeat bad legislation and positively influence elected officials to support our business priorities and bills. The recent governor’s race is a great example of the influence our advocacy team has in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Both candidates made the time to meet with the REALTORS® and answer questions about their positions on issues important to us. RPAC fights for our members, our clients, and our profession. You should invest in 2021 and every year you are a REALTOR® or affiliate member!”
– Denise Ramey, Virginia REALTORS® 2021 President-Elect, Charlottesville, VA
Our Protection
“I’m grateful for RPAC and REALTOR® Party advocacy for keeping my job as a REALTOR® “essential” in 2020. Moreover, I’m especially thankful for RPAC’s evergreen support of property rights concerning the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the protection of homeowners. Without the REALTOR® Party’s involvement, flood insurance premiums could easily skyrocket or, worse yet, federally-backed flood insurance could disappear altogether.”
– Jeremy Caleb Johnson, Virginia Beach, VA
Sharing Our Opinions
“I am thankful for RPAC always asking us, the professionals, who are the boots on the ground, what we think of a proposed law or bill. This affords us the opportunity to weigh in on legislation that affects our clients and our business directly. Most of all, I am thankful for RPAC during these challenging times of COVID. Calling an emergency meeting prior to the special general assembly session to discuss proposed laws that could have significant negative impact on our clients was important to me.”
– Dawn Josemans, Fredericksburg, VA
