As of July 1, 2020, Virginia law now requires that any person performing a septic inspection in connection with a real estate transaction must have an appropriate license or accreditation. Virginia REALTORS^® is providing the following resources to help you navigate this change.

On September 1, 2020, Virginia REALTORS® released updates to the Purchase Contract (Form 600) and the Standard Clause Booklet. These changes address concerns that our members have expressed regarding the new law that requires all septic inspections to be performed by an inspector with an appropriate license or accreditation.
