After the last threat of frost has come and gone, encourage your clients to give their yard a refresh whether it’s for themselves or if they plan to sell. We’re providing some tips for increasing property value AND curb appeal in outdoor spaces.

The Power of Flowers

Virginia is a great place for seasons and bodes well in most areas for gardening. Some of the best flowers that grow in Virginia for spring planting include daffodils, Virginia bluebells, turtleheads, tulips, and crocuses. It’s important to consider the type of yard before choosing a flower, so advise your client to take into consideration how much sun, water, and drainage different areas of their property get. While some of these flowers may do great in some Virginia yards, others may be better for another type of yard, so researching before planting is important. Whichever the flower, the pops of color will appeal to visitors!

Light Up the Night

Outdoor lighting always adds a nice touch to a property’s appearance during warm spring and summer evenings, and it can also help with safety, too! There are a variety of different lighting options available for any budget to line a walkway or driveway. Solar powered lights sold in sets are an easy and low maintenance option to spruce up a yard and add some visibility. A low-to-the-ground spotlight could be an option for adding overall light to a dark backyard, while string lights can add some fun to a patio or deck.

Yard Refresh

Mulching can always be a great reminder this time of year (though it is definitely one of the more labor-intensive options!). Nothing truly screams beautiful curb appeal to potential buyers like a fresh layer of mulch. Planting some new trees can also help enhance a yard, potentially add some privacy, or add a little bit of animal and plant diversity. A few fresh trees and a new coat of mulch can help the yard go a long way after a cold and wet winter.
