Important Update Regarding GRI
December 13, 2022
The GRI program has been going strong since it was redeveloped in 2015. But business has changed, and the market is moving in new ways. To keep our materials up to date and meet the needs of Virginia REALTORS® members, we are making changes to the GRI program.
Two class changes that will go into effect on January 1, 2023, include the replacement of RI 509: Mastering Real Estate Negotiations and RI 510: Beneath the Surface with two (2) NAR designations. They include At Home with Diversity and Military Relocation Professional.
Students will have the opportunity to take these courses online or in person. Once they have completed all the GRI courses, they will attach these certification completion certificates to their graduation application.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m close to completing the current courses that are being replaced?
Those who will have completed the current RI 509: Mastering Real Estate Negotiations and RI 510: Beneath the Surface courses as of December 31, 2022 will be preauthorized into the program and will not need to complete the two new NAR certification classes. If you have not taken these classes and do not complete them before the end of the year, you will need to complete the two new NAR certification classes instead.
What if I’m not sure if this change impacts me?
Students are encouraged to check their GRI status to see if this will impact their progress.
Once I’ve completed AHWD and/or MRP, how do I acquire my completion certificates and apply them to my GRI summary?
If you attended the online course offered by NAR, log into the Center for REALTOR® Development and find your completed courses under My Learning – See All My Courses. Once you’ve navigated to your completed courses list, you’ll be given the option to download your course completion certificate as PDFs. If you attended the course at a local association, you can request a completion certificate from their education staff. Once you have a copy of your completion certificates, save them until you’ve finished all the GRI courses. You’ll have an opportunity to upload them as part of your graduation application.
