Exciting Transitions for the Virginia REALTORS® Research Team
April 8, 2022
Effective May 2, 2022, our Chief Economist, Dr. Lisa Sturtevant, will be joining Bright MLS to help the regional organization expand its research and analytics capabilities. “Working with Virginia REALTORS® has been a tremendously rewarding experience,” says Sturtevant. “I feel so fortunate that I have had the opportunity to help build a research team that is responsible for a range of resources that helps the real estate industry in Virginia.”
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Lisa and also for our association,” says Virginia REALTORS® CEO Terrie Suit. “Bright MLS is our largest MLS partner and having Lisa on board will open new doors for closer collaboration and partnership. She will continue consulting with our Research Team as she transitions into her new role.”
We are pleased to announce that Ryan Price is stepping into the role of Virginia REALTORS® Chief Economist. For more than a decade, Ryan has honed his knowledge of Virginia’s housing market, serving as VAR’s Deputy Chief Economist, as President of research consulting firm LSA Planning, as an Urban Planner for the City of Alexandria, and as part of the research team at the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University. Even before joining VAR full-time as Deputy Chief Economist, Ryan spent years contributing to our research, including the monthly Virginia Home Sales Report and our quarterly regional market reports. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from James Madison University and a master’s degree in urban planning from Virginia Tech.
“I am eager for this opportunity to serve Virginia’s largest trade association as Chief Economist,” says Price. “In this role, I will provide leadership to continue producing the valuable resources we currently provide, while always seeking new ways our team can serve our members and benefit our industry.”
As Ryan takes the helm of our Research Team, Virginia REALTORS® is bringing on two new Research Associates to continue building our growing bank of resources for members, Virginia law makers, and members of the media. We are pleased to welcome Dominique Fair, a graduate of Mary Washington University who brings a deep understanding of commercial real estate to the table from her years working with CoStar; and Abel Opoku-Adjei, whose professional experience, paired with his degree in economics from Radford, has garnered a valuable skillset in data analysis software.
“The appetite for economic research has grown,” says Price. “We hear you, and we are excited to provide more research content for Virginia’s real estate industry. Expanding our Research Team will allow Virginia REALTORS® to provide even more valuable insights, research products, and collaborative services to monitor how Virginia’s economy is preforming, how our demographics are changing here in the commonwealth, and how local housing markets are trending around the state.”
