This month is an opportunity to reflect on past and current approaches to diversity and inclusion and to propel forward, embracing the strengths in our differences and using them to improve the world.

Our work towards diversity and inclusion in Virginia REALTORS^®, fair housing, and the real estate industry must be intentional.

So, as we open our minds to new ideas, we encourage you to do the same. A great way to do both during Global Diversity Awareness Month is to participate in the #30DayInclusionChallenge by Cohesion Collective. This challenge takes a daily dive into various areas of diversity—race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and generational differences. With today’s technology, there has never been an easier way to connect with people from around the world. Learn a cultural or familial tradition from someone of a different race or have a conversation about how one’s gender has had a career impact. Bottom line: be open to new ideas and perspectives.

In order for diversity and inclusion to be successful, whether within an organization or around the world, the efforts must be intentional. During this Global Diversity Awareness Month, join us in being deliberate with learning, creating initiatives, and laying the foundation for sustained appreciation of diversity and inclusion into our work and everyday lives.
