Virginia REALTORS® Working to Flatten the Curve of COVID-19
April 2, 2020
As we all adjust to these unprecedented times due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Virginia REALTORS® Government Relations team is actively working with state government leaders to keep the real estate industry functioning as an essential business.
On March 30, 2020, Governor Northam issued Executive Order 55, which is a directive to “stay at home” and only travel when it is necessary or essential. As this relates to the real estate community, REALTORS® may continue to operate real estate businesses but MUST do so in accordance with Executive Order 53 and the CDC-recommended guidelines.
This means that gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited. This is why we strongly recommend that REALTORS® DO NOT host open houses at this time. Do as much work as possible remotely or virtually. When you must have in-person interactions, only do so under strict adherence of the CDC guidelines, which include maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet between individuals. The Virginia Department of Health also provides information for real estate professionals who interact with the public.
Check the Virginia REALTORS® COVID-19 and NAR COVID-19 resource pages often for frequent updates as the situation evolves. If you have questions or thoughts about our advocacy efforts during this time, please contact the Government Relations Team.
