Q: With regard to Fair Housing Law, if you had to pick one thing that people who use A.I. should watch out for, what would it be?
A: We caution REALTORS® not to devalue the critical step of human review.
Remember, you are the expert, not the machine. A lot of A.I. classes ask you to watch out for Fair Housing violations, bias in data, truth in advertising, etc. You may wonder if it’s necessary to warn you about these pitfalls, and the answer is yes. While A.I. may increase efficiency, it may also lead to too much reliance. If you use A.I. to do your thinking for you, then you may well run into Fair Housing violations, for example. That is why human review is the most critical aspect. You are the expert, not A.I. With that in mind, it is wiser to view A.I. as being similar to an unlicensed assistant—one that requires supervision.
