Q: “The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently made some changes to the Renovation Repair and Painting rules. What do I need to know?”  

A: Short and simple, the EPA made some changes to the Protect Your Family from Lead in Your Home pamphlet. The change reflects the new dust-lead action levels (previously referred to as the dust-lead clearance levels) and dust-lead reportable levels (previously referred to as the dust-lead hazard standards) that are effective Jan. 12, 2026. 

The pamphlet was updated last as of May 1st, 2026. If you provide a printed pamphlet the EPA does not require you to discard it, but you can download their supplement. If you provide the link to your clients, then no other action is necessary if it takes them to the current one.
