REAL Impact: How GPR Turns Community Service Into Community Strength
March 17, 2026

This quarterly REAL Impact feature focuses on the Greater Piedmont REALTORS® (GPR). In an industry often defined by market trends and transactions, GPR stands out for something far more enduring—a culture of giving back.
For decades, GPR members have been deeply embedded in the fabric of their communities, not only as real estate professionals but as trusted local partners and advocates for housing, planning, and community well-being. The association proudly describes itself as “active members in our communities”—a reflection of a long-standing commitment that extends beyond the closing table. That commitment shows up year after year through initiatives that support housing access, strengthening local planning efforts, and enhancing quality of life across the region. GPR has long recognized that meaningful community impact often requires collaboration and resources beyond what a smaller association can generate alone.
That is why each year, GPR looks to both the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and Virginia REALTORS® (VAR) to help amplify its efforts through grant opportunities designed to support local innovation, fair housing, and community-driven solutions. This strategy has produced tangible results. In past years, GPR secured NAR REALTOR® Party grant funding to support housing research that informed Culpeper County’s Comprehensive Plan—demonstrating how even modest investments can shape long-term community outcomes. They have leveraged VAR’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Fair Housing grant to related courses for their members. GPR has also used VAR Community Engagement Grants to support hosting fundraisers for scholarships for high school students, to purchase new hockey equipment for a hockey group after a wildfire hit the area.

Building on that momentum, GPR continues to lean into opportunity. In 2026 alone, the association has already applied for at least two NAR grants to further its work — reinforcing its belief that small associations can deliver big results when paired with strategic partnerships.
The story of Greater Piedmont REALTORS® is ultimately one of stewardship. It is proof that size does not determine influence—culture does. And that culture has been rooted for years in service, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to community.
