RPAC Working for YOU
November 5, 2020
During these unprecedented times, the Virginia REALTORS® and RPAC of Virginia have been fighting to protect you and the clients you serve. We worked with a bi-partisan group of legislative leaders and the Governor’s administration to enact policies that helped you thrive during these difficult times, while stopping initiatives that would have negatively impacted your business.
In the initial days of the pandemic, Virginia REALTORS® partnered with the Governor’s office and the Department of Health on a set of professional best practices that allowed real estate to continue in Virginia as an essential business.
REALTORS® have pushed for funding, $62 million to date, for the Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program that has provided housing stability for thousands of Virginians. REALTORS® also worked with the Department of Housing and Community Development to streamline the application process that enables housing providers to work with tenants to apply for rent relief funding.
In addition, REALTORS® helped defeat legislation during the General Assembly Special Session that would have extended a state-level eviction moratorium into 2021 but did not provide needed financial relief to housing providers.
REALTORS® supported additional funding for broadband expansion in the Virginia budget that will help Virginia families who are working and educating remotely.
This year has shown that REALTOR® support of RPAC has never been more important. If you have not given your RPAC contribution, please consider doing so. RPAC supports candidates for office—whether they are Democratic, Republican, or Independent—who support policies that benefit your business and our industry. Join us today in this good work by contributing to RPAC.
